Purse I get so many questions on this bag. It looks designer without the designer price tag. It comes with two straps. One with designer green and red and a matching brown strap.
I shared at the end of last year my diagnosis with #alopecia. It’s a journey I said I would share more in the new year but that’s easier said then done.
See, I am still adjusting to the reality of this on a daily basis. While I am choosing to focus on the blessings + not the negative. Sometimes the imperfections are very apparent which can make positivity hard.
At first glance of this photo, I was so negative. I was mad at the wind. Yes, I said the wind. It felt like it purposely wanted to reveal my new found flaw, my hair or lack of. Doesn’t that just sound ridiculous?!?
It took me a day, to finally see the beauty in it. See if you look close you will see a husband who loves his wife with all he can. A man that has stood in the pain with her over the last few months. Listened, cried, held and did all he could to make the start of this new year a good one after so many in years past fell short just like these past months. A loving man that much like God is holding my hand, loving me with my flaws, and guiding me to brighter days.
We all go through rough patches and if you are going through one of your own right now know you aren’t alone. I am right there with you + remember there is always some glory + God in your midst.
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” Song of Songs 4:7
If you follow my stories you know that I cannot suggest @lysaterkeurst latest book enough. I am obsessed for sure. #itsnotsupposedtobethisway It’s honestly a toolbox for dealing with the reality of life not turning out as had planned. A book we can all learn from and lean on during moments of weakness.
I look forward to sharing more of me, my flawed but flawless life with you and more in 2019.

Over the years, I have learned the importance of skincare. Not just because I worked in the industry for so long but also because aging occurs for us all.
I have always been a strong component of clinical grade skin care. However, that can come with a cost. So I have learned where to place my money to make the most out of my investment.
For basic skin maintenance, (after much trial and error) I have found 3 budget friendly drugstore products that work wonders for my skin. This allows me to use the additional funds toward my pricier anti-aging products, serums and masks.
As someone that has very sensitive skin and prone to acne, these products have done wonders and stood the test of time for me, personally.
1. Cetaphil Gental Skin Cleanser– Just as they list on the bottle, it’s for all skin types. It’s non-irritating and mild enough to cleans a baby’s skin. This is a non foaming cleansers. Which honestly, took me a while to get use to but now I love it. As directed, it can be used with or without water. It doesn’t take much product to wash your face. With any skin product, you should only need around a pea size amount. A large 16 oz bottle will last me around 3-4 months.
2. Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel – After cleansing my skin and allowing it to dry, I use this product as my toner. I apply a small amount to a cotton ball and lightly run across my whole face. I find it cleanses and refreshes my skin. Witch hazel tends to have similar components as hemorrhoid creams. Hamamelis virginiana is found in both products, which is a natural anti-inflammatory and has astringent properties. I find this helps me with swelling and also fine lines.
3. Cetaphil Face Lotion with Hyaluronic Acid– This product is a new favorite of mine. I have been using it around 8 weeks. In good skin products, I find most give results after at least 2 months of use. Due to the size of this product, I tend to replace it every month and a half to 2 months. Why I love this product, is the use of hyaluronic acid. This draws water to the surface and allows my skin to stay moisturized longer.
I also love the convenience factor of all three of these products. You can find most of these products at your local drugstore, grocery stores and even on Amazon Prime, and it only costs around $30 for the full regimen!
I cannot wait for you to start using these products. Please let me know when you do and as always, how you like them!
(Always check reviews when purchasing on Amazon.)

Target does it again! Just when you think things cannot get better, they do.
Opalhouse is the newest brand to join Target. It’s full of fun patterns, color and amazing textiles to make anyone swoon. Their original launch date is for this Sunday the 8th however some Targets have already started placing items on their floor.
Today, I got a preview of the line and let’s just say it took me t-minus 5 seconds to get it all into my cart. So I can only imagine how amazing the other items will be on Sunday.
Currently on the Target app in the cartwheel portion, you can receive 15% off on all bed and bath. So if your store is one of the lucky ones to already have a few items on the floor, you can get these items on sale. The 15% off is only good until tomorrow evening, April 7th.
Many of you may be aware Target has gotten rid of the Cartwheel App and can only access it through your Target account. You can do this by signing in on your normal web browser or using the Target app. When speaking to a Target manager today, I was informed that they are still having issues with this transition but recommends using the Target app.
As for Opalhouse, I am sure I will be sharing more when the launch occurs but wanted to share a sneak peek of one of my most anticipated launches!

I can honestly say, I have an obsession. Yes, this may sound trivial to some but I have always loved having good looking lashes.
Remember those days, when your mom finally let you wear make up? It felt like such a game changer.
Yes, there were still plenty of trial and errors that occurred during this timeframe. However, there was one item that I quickly fell in love with and it was so easy to use; mascara.
With a quick swipe, my lashes were instantly transformed from iridescent and non-existent to outstanding and oh so full.
As simple of a task as it seemed back then, as years went on and life got busier, I found that I didn’t have much time for myself in the mornings and that included makeup.
It wasn’t until about two years ago I found out about lash extensions. While I knew it would be an investment, I am all about saving time and looking good while doing it.
It was so funny because as soon as I got my first set of lashes, other women quickly noticed, and were stopping me at the grocery store and even the doctors office. They all wanted to know what I was using on my lashes.
What seemed to be a simple question would easily turn into a full on conversation. So it was no surprise when I recently started blogging, you all quickly wanted to know more about my lash extensions.
I think the biggest question I get is, “how do I know where to go and who is safe?” I recommend going to a licensed professional for extensions. This is so important, as you need to assure they know what they are doing and are recognized by the state. Always ask for someone that has been doing it for a while or even ask for recommendations.
I get individual strands of lashes, it’s just a personal preference. I get them in lengths 12’s and 13’s with what is called a C curl.
There are two widths of lashes and I alternate between both. There are many styles you can choose from but I always go for a more dramatic but natural look. This is just something you and your artist will work together to figure out your eye shape and face frame.
My lash extensions are applied to my original lashes and not to my skin. They should never be applied to your skin and this is a sure way of knowing if you have a good artist working on you.
My lash extensions last around 2-3 weeks. This doesn’t mean they all fall out, but when I start to see them fall out and need areas replaced.
Two weeks after application + prior to a refill.
Obviously at your first visit you will need a full application. This normally takes a little over an hour. As for refills, these take around 45 minutes. Which for me, I love. I use this as my meditation/me time.
As for mascara, it’s not recommended to use and you won’t need to. However you will find me wearing it closer to my refill appoints to fill in areas and use it on my bottom lashes daily.
After full refill.
The day of application, I shower and wash my face completely. They want no make up around the eye area. This helps with proper attachment to the lash line. Also, you will not want to get the new lashes wet for 48 hours after for the same purpose.
After the 48 hours and in between appointments, you are able to wash your face as normal but you want to use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil. A soft cleanser will allow them to stay attached longer.
Just like anything, you want to take care of your lashes so be sure to brush them daily with a mascara wand to insure proper placement and to maintain them.
In the end, I cannot recommend them more. As a busy woman on the run, they take one less item off my plate and help me feel confident all day long.
It truly has been a gift + a treat for me and I hope it is for you, too!
Ever need a little pick me up?
Last week, after another round of doctors appointments I was needing something to cheer me up. (Blog post coming soon regarding my journey.)
I ended up wondering into a store I hadn’t been in quite a while. I was hoping to find an Easter dress but if anything, doing some window shopping.
I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. I quickly found myself fully immersed in everything Old Navy had.
In the fitting room, I quickly realized I had to narrow down my favorites because just like most mommas, I am on a budget.
This was not an easy feat because they have stepped up their game. It’s like Old Navy is the new Gap. (Yes, I know they are sister companies.) The quality is outstanding with the same great pricing they have been known for.
When I found out that they were having a one day only sale, I knew had to share my newest obsession and purchases.
So for today only, you will receive 35% off merchandise online and free shipping over $50. Also on qualifying orders, you will receive Super Cash to use next week toward another purchase.
Can you believe it? It’s like they are giving it away! My loss is your gain in such a big way!
Update: All five items total less then $100, plus you will receive $50 Super Cash!

Taking the kids on an 8 hour road trip by myself, well let’s just say it isn’t my best idea.
However, I knew the memories we would make on this spring break would make it all worth it.
As we backed out of the driveway yesterday, I felt the anxiety start to take over. Did we have everything? Could the kids get to what they needed? What if the kids get hungry? What if I get lost?
Entering the highway, I took a deep breathe and waited for what lies ahead.
As we drove I continued, “Just breathe, just breathe!”
Around hour seven of our trip, I realized all my fears were long gone. How was it we were an hour out and we hadn’t had any issues with the kids needing my assistance or some kind of minor mishap?
Soon I realized what new items we had for this trip and how they made a world of a difference.
1. PackIt Freezable 18-Can Cooler $29.99 This isn’t your dad’s cooler nor your kids everyday lunch pail. It’s a freezable cooler; no ice needed. It has built in ice packs that keep food and drinks cold pretty much all day long. It is the perfect size for traveling. Convenient for healthy snacks and drinks. It is easy enough for the kids to open and close.
2. Headrest Hooks $6.99 These hooks attach to any headrest. They can be swung around to be used in the front or back of any seat. Great for traveling because they eliminate clutter and frees up floor space. Hanging your child’s backpack or activity bag on these hooks in front of them allows them to entertain themselves on an entire car ride. There are no limits with these including hanging clothes, grocery bags, umbrellas and the list goes on.
3. Car Phone Mount- $7.98 This phone mount attaches to any vent, windshield, or dashboard of your car. It fits Samsung to IPhone Plus phone sizes. It has an adjustable arm and a 360 degree neck to allow you to place your phone as needed and desired. It is durable and assists with safe driving with easy visibility for turn by turn navigation and answering phone calls.
With warm weather around the corner, I hope these travel essentials help you and your family on your next vacation!
Closets, closets, closets.
An unorganized closet can be a trap, where your money & things can go to die.
Where on the other hand, an organized closet can be a gateway to feeling good and getting the most out of your investments.
That’s why I find it so important to do closet clean outs, especially with growing little ones. Where there is always an endless cycle of revolving clothes.
Here I will share my fast, easy and effective ways of doing just that.
I do these twice a year in our house. One time in March to assess what is needed for the start of Spring & Summer. Then I do this again in early September to prepare for Fall & Winter.
Before starting any closet clean out, I first wash all clothes. This is important because I cannot tell you how bad it feels after completing this task only to find those miscellaneous items you missed and now need to sort or even take to consignment, yet again.
1. Always set a timer whether it’s on your watch, phone or even your Echo. I use 90 minutes for larger projects like this. It forces me to focus on the task at hand without getting overwhelmed.
2. Good music. This may seem silly but it is critical for me. I always have list going in my head. So this helps me stay on track and if the music is upbeat I tend to speed up my momentum.
3. Purging. This task is that simple. Don’t try and organize along the way. Just go through each clothing item as fast as you can. First check sizing, then look for tears and any stains.
Be sure to sort by size for consignment reasons. This allows for them to go through faster and easier. Some consignments may have an abundance of items in one size and not so much in another. This allows you to wait less and get your money faster.
Any items that have stains and tears place aside, as they will need to be donated. Consignments do not take anything with markings of any kind.
While sorting, you may find keepsake items. Separate these as well but remember the idea is to clean out and declutter. So this should be less than 5% of your clean out.
After the holidays, I tend to find two things in their closets. I find clothing they have been given. Some which, are too big for them just yet and then holiday themed clothing that they could wear the following year. Just as the others, separate and place aside.
4. After sorting is complete, you should now have piles all over the bedroom floor. Don’t let this overwhelm you! Just turning away and focus on the items that are left in the closet that are appropriate sizing for the next two seasons. Then start organizing by type; short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, pants, shorts and the list goes on. I am a strong component of hanging all your clothes and never putting them in drawers. This will visually tell you what you have and what you need very quickly. At this point take note of what your kiddos needs are at this moment. You will find this useful after consigning those outgrown clothes.
As for placement, my kids are pretty independent and to make my life easier, I place pajamas and the up coming season items on the bottom racks. This allows them to grab what is needed without assistance. Those items going out of season then are placed higher due to lack of need.
5. Now that the closet is cleaned, it’s time to address that bedroom floor.
First, go ahead and place all the items for consignment in a box or bin. In the box I place a piece of paper in between the clothing sizes for easy reference. Do not place in a trash bag, as this will only add an additional step when you get to the consignment store. Also with this, items can shift in a bag and you don’t want to undo all that work.
Now feel free to use that trash bag for those donation items.
By now you should have less than 3 piles left on the floor.
For any keepsake items, those should be labeled and stored in a clear plastic container for protection and immediately placed in it’s forever home; which for us is our attic. Do not allow these items back in the closet! The point of this is to eliminate the clutter.
Those items that are too big along with holiday items should then be placed in a clear basket or bin on a higher shelf. While I am not a component of drawers due to the lack of visibly, a small clear bin in the closet still allows for easy access and acts as a reminder when Fall & Winter come to check once again. Labeling this box would be an added bonus.
Right about now your timer should be going off and walla you have a clean and organized closet!
Take a moment to bask in your great work! Isn’t it amazing what you can accomplish in 90 minutes? It kinda makes me feel like Wonder Woman.
While the closet is now clean, what do we do with that box of outgrown closet and trash bag of donations?
Some might think to immediately take those donations in but I actually address the consignment items first.
You might be asking why I don’t just sell those clothes on my own online. The truth is, I have been there done that. It takes entirely too long and too much effort when I can simply drive to a consignment store and get immediate cash. No making arrangements and no waiting game.
Any items that don’t sell are immediately added to the donated bag and taken in. Don’t forget to get a tax form when dropping these off.
What to do with that money you just made?
Remember when I told you to assess their closet at the end of organizing? You should now have knowledge on where the closet is lacking and use this new money to reinvest in those areas of the wardrobe.
Congratulations! I hope you now feel empowered and refreshed when you walk into your new clean closet!
If you have any questions or if you have a comment on this organizing hack, please visit my latest Instagram post and leave a comment!
The sun is shining today which is a reminder that Spring is right around the corner. After all the rain we’ve had here in Texas, it is a very welcomed change.
One Spring staple that I always look forward to is sunnies or as most call them, sunglasses.
They aren’t needed just for protection but are a major fashion accessory. Whether it’s at the ballpark or an outdoor wedding, sunglasses can make an outfit.
Over the years, I have purchased many high end designer sunglasses. Which I am too embarrassed to even admit how much I paid.
Don’t get me wrong, I will still spend a good amount on a pair of aviators or even wayfarer sunglasses because let’s be honest, they will always stand the test of time.
As for the latest trends, I am now much wiser in my purchasing and with the great brands like Quay it’s more affordable to get great quality.
With Spring Break around the corner, I am going to share my favorite on trend sunglasses. And get this they are all under $60!
Libre Quay Sunglasses $24 with code EXTRA
Quay Private Eyes 30% off
Quay Vivienne Sunglasses $48 with code EXTRA
My marble glasses from Guess are sold out everywhere but here are a pair that are very comparable and are free shipping!
Tortoise Rounded Sunglasses $10 with free shipping for Prime members
These look so similar to the popular Karen Walkers which retail for over $250.
Another great tip is always check your local TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and Ross. They carry many great sunglass brands, from Ray Ban to Quay. Two of the pair I just shared came from there and I got them for only $15! Don’t wait though, now is the perfect time to buy before they are picked over.
Happy shopping and remember you cannot buy happiness but you can buy sunglasses which is basically the same thing.
I believe that saying, “Love starts at home.” That’s one of the many reasons why I enjoy making our house a place we love to come home to DAY after DAY!
While home décor is beautiful and can transform a house into a home, it can come at a cost but it doesn’t always have to.
I have always loved mixing high and low end pieces in my wardrobe but it doesn’t stop there. I love doing that at home as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I am all about quality but I also believe that not all quality has to have a heavy price tag.
So, I loved when you all asked for me to share some of my favorite new budget conscious décor & items from my recent trip to IKEA.
You all fell in love with my favorite purchase from the trip, the bedding!
Bedding can be a big investment however with trends changing year by year as well as color palettes, it can be hard to narrow down one that is worth the money and will stand the test of time. So after looking at bedding for the last few months, I was about to throw in the towel, until I found this. At only $30 dollars, who could say no?!?
It’s perfect for layering or just standing alone. It mimics a much pricier bedding from a larger bedding store. The king set includes the duvet and two king pillow cases.
NYPONROS DUVET SET $24.99-39.99
Next up is another additional to my bedding, the euro pillows. These are a bedding must have because they create structure and balance to any bed. So when I came across these for only $10 and they were feather down , I knew I had to give them a chance. These are so comparable to the heavy duty and heavily priced down pillows at the department store. I will definitely be getting more!
NATTJASMIN EURO SHAM $5.99
TVEBLAD ACCENT PILLOW $24.99
Table décor is an evolution around my house. It is constantly changing based off the season. So when I saw this display in store, I literally took it plants and all. It looks so real and so fresh. It would also be a great addition to a back patio.
FEJKA PLANTS $6.99
SOCKER GREENHOUSE $19.99
SOARE PLACE MAT $5.00
Keeping things organized doesn’t mean it looks pretty. That’s why good boxes and containers are a must.
These boxes are a great investment for storing books, photos or anything you want to hide from everyday sight. They are very large and great for storing children’s artwork.
FJALLA BOXES $12.99
Baskets are always helpful. From the bathroom to the coffee table, there are endless ways to use them. At $13, this one looks and feels so expensive. I wish I had bought more of these.
I don’t know about you but there are a few items I use every single time I cook including salt & pepper. So when I saw this next item, I knew I needed it. This caddy allows me to keep those “go to” items in one place and can easily take them from the pantry to the cook top.
VARIERA CADDY $13.99
I am always a sucker for any item that isn’t an IPad or a TV to keep my kids entertained and gets their creative juices going. We have had this item for years, however I picked up some new paper for it at my latest trip. When I posted my cart on my Instagram story, I had one of you ask what it was for. So, I thought I would share for any mommas out there. It makes for a great kids present, as well.
MALA PAPER $4.99
I haven’t gotten these up just yet but saw them in store and couldn’t believe the quality. It’s a complete set for those extra tall windows without the extra big price tag. I promise to share once I have them up.
LENDA CURTAIN SET $24.99
I shared these with you all last week on the blog. I was so happy you fell in love with them too.
SKUBB BOX SET $6.99
I hope you all enjoyed all these items along with their price tags, just as much as I do! As always, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them under my latest Instagram post.
There is one item I can always complete an outfit with and that is jewelry.
My latest obsession is Kendra Scott’s newly launched Spring line. I think it’s the best one she’s ever done.
Just when you think she cannot do better, she does it again!
The soft muted metals along with sweet pastels are something that will draw the attention into Spring and Summer.
You will find I am wearing the collection in all of my latest posts, both dressy and casual.
Today, they have a remarkable deal going on for every $75 spent, you will receive a free bracelet!
The bracelets come in four styles and each can be found in gold, silver and rose gold. Much like most of her jewelry, they are designed for every day use.
I have listed some of my favorites, including the Inez Necklace and matching Aragon Statement Earrings in the turquoise stone. Some items, including this combination, are sold out online.
However, you can call the girls at my local store and they will be happy to place an order for you over the phone and will include free shipping.

When ordering be sure to select your bracelets before checking out! This offer does expire at midnight PST.
I asked and you all answered!
On Instagram I recently asked for your feedback, and I was so excited when you all said you loved organization as much as I do! It’s honestly an obsession for me.
With Spring around the corner, this is normally when I start working on decluttering and organizing because let’s be honest, the holidays take a huge toll on my house.
So when I went to Ikea this past weekend I knew one item I had to get. The SKUBB boxes!
These boxes are amazing! They are durable, collapsible and wipe clean very easily.
They are a jack of all trades. I use them anywhere from dresser drawers to the pantry and I even use them for traveling.
Not only do these boxes make everything more visibly appealing with their clean lines and white exterior, they are also the easiest way to separate and evaluate your items. With two kids and a husband, these keep me from repeating where items are all day long.
And for only $7 for a set of 6, I call them an answer to my organization prayers!
Now I have done a lot of shopping for organization and have seen a lot of boxes. Whether it’s at a container or home store, I have yet to find anything comparable in price and quality.
I am sure just like me, you will find there are endless uses for them!
As women, we are natural masters when it comes to multitasking. But do you multitask when it comes to your skincare?
After a decade in the skincare industry, I can say one of my favorite things to do is at home facial masks.
Facial masks typically consist of mud, clay and other properties which are applied to the face to help and promote better skin. While there are many different masks on the market that aim at pores, acne, skin tightening and even brightening, I have yet to find one mask that I could use on all of my face to assist and fix all my skin needs.
This resulted in me using what I call the multitask mask.

Multitask masking is the use of multiple masks in different areas of the face to address all my facial concerns.
One of the many things I love about masking is that it is a pretty simple process. I only have to do it 2 to 3 times a week and I leave it on for 10-20 minutes.
I wish I could say I use the same products in the same areas of the face every single time but that just isn’t the case. Whether it is that time of the month, the weather outside is dry or humid, or if you ate that candy bar in a heat of passion; our skin is constantly evolving to its environment.
While my skin is always changing, I have found 3 masks I always keep on hand in my arsenal of products.
1. The Charcoal Mask– Charcoal isn’t just for the grill nor is it exactly the same as what you put in the grill. Now a days, you can find formations of coal from tooth paste to facial masks. For me, the charcoal mask helps in detoxing my face. Typically my t-zone is more prone to oil and blackheads but when my hormones hit, I can find issues around my lower jawline. So this is where this product helps by reducing oil and the presence of acne on my skin.
2. The Hydrating Mask– I am constantly asked, “what is the best thing I can do for my face?” My answer is always hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Using a hydrating mask makes my skin feel alive and refreshed. I use it on the most dry areas of my skin. Typically this is my forehead, temples and on top of cheek bones. However in those winter months I find myself using it on my cheeks, jawline and my neck. Most hydration masks have a key ingredient; hyaluronic acid, to assist and aid the dewiness of the skin.
3. The Firming Mask– Most of these masks have elements of lactic acid and some component of root extract. I love using this in areas where I feel I need a “lift”. Example areas are cheekbones, cheeks, jawline and neck. Most firming masks have a reflecting aspect to them and will typically leave a glow or sheen to the skin. This is why I love masking the night before a big event or outing.
Some of you have probably noticed that I didn’t mention the eye area. Most masks ask that you avoid this area due to sensitivity. This area should only be left for specific eye products such as under-eye creams.
Depending on your skin, you don’t have to use all of these. Anyway you do it, the multitask mask will be a game changer.
One thing you will learn about me, is I am a beauty junky. I’m always trying the latest and greatest in the skin care industry. I am going to link each of my current loves in these categories for you but please know there are many others out there I love as well.
As always, please remember to read and follow the directions on all your products and packaging.

Today is the DAY, it is time to step out…
Hi, I am Stacy. Let me be the first to WELCOME you to the launch of DAY by Stacy Kay, a life + style blog. DAY is a passion project that has been months in the works just for you, and I am excited to finally have you here!
Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, Day by Stacy Kay was inspired due in part to a girls’ night out. Each month, two of my besties and I try to unwind for dinner & drinks in a husband & kid free environment.
A few months back, we were at a local tap + kitchen having drinks when soon it wasn’t just our food on the table but once again our daily worries and struggles. It was then that I realized why these dinners were so important.
We are all women maintaining careers and families all while reaching for our own dreams and doing our best to look & feel good in the process. At these dinners, sharing and receiving tips & tricks always made me feel refreshed and armed with a new set of tools.
Being the over-sharer and journalist that I am, I quickly found myself asking why wasn’t I doing my greatest passion? There it was right in front of my face. Whether it was a simple daily hack, profound moment of reflection or even just an amazing fashion find, I love giving others knowledge and in return also learning myself.
Thus, creating Day by Stacy Kay, a larger platform to do just that; armor women with a one stop shop for all their solutions for life + style.
It was Marilyn Monroe who said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Well here I am in my fanciest shoes, hoping to help you do just that; conquer the world one DAY at a time.
Please join me here on this new journey where I hope to share and inspire you to make each DAY better than the last!
